Delta Windows & Doors: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Delta-compatible windows and doors across San Antonio, with replacement parts and full-unit swaps typically running $4,500 – $15,000 installed depending on size, glass package, and how many units you’re replacing. Most common Delta hardware failures we fix the same day, and we carry the highest-wear components on our trucks so you’re not waiting a week for a latch or a balance shoe.
Here’s how it usually starts: a window that won’t stay up, a patio door that suddenly drags, or a lock that turns but doesn’t catch. You can live with it for a while. Then the first cold front pushes through and you realize the seal’s been gone since spring. By the time an owner calls us, the part has usually been failing for months. That’s normal. Delta builds a solid window, but San Antonio heat doesn’t do any favors to nylon rollers, rubber weatherstripping, or glazing seals.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta windows show up in a lot of San Antonio homes built in the 1990s and 2000s, and the model line matters when you’re matching parts. The most common lines we service are the Series 500 single-hung, Series 700 double-hung, and the builder-grade 3000-series sliders. On casement windows, Delta used multiple hinge hardware generations, and they are not interchangeable. The older crank-out casements from the mid-90s use a 9/16″ arm channel; the later ones use a 12mm pivoting arm. If you order the wrong hinge, the window will open but sag half an inch and rub the frame.
To identify your model, look at the spacer bar between the glass panes and the sticker on the head jamb. Delta etches a date code into the spacer bar on most lines: the first two digits are the year, the next two are the month. That tells us which hardware generation you have before we even open the sash. For parts we install, OEM Delta parts make sense when you’re keeping the window and want an exact dimensional match. For high-wear items like balance shoes and pivot bars, we often use aftermarket equivalents that outlast the originals, especially after 15-plus San Antonio summers.

Signs Your Delta Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Window falls shut or won’t stay open. The spiral balance or block-and-tackle balance inside the jamb has lost tension or the shoe cracked. On Delta Series 500 windows, we see the plastic pivot bar snap more than the balance itself, which lets the sash drop hard enough to crack the bottom rail.
- Sliding door drags or hops off the track. The tandem rollers under a Delta patio door are nylon over steel, and after ten Texas summers the nylon flattens on one side. The door still slides, but it chews the aluminum track and eventually the door panel has to come out to do it right.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The double-glazed seal has failed. San Antonio’s humidity swings and direct south-facing sun kill Delta’s butyl seal over time. When you see fog that won’t wipe off, the insulated glass unit (IGU) is done and the glass package needs replacement, not repair.
- Lock turns but door doesn’t latch. The strike plate has drifted, or the door slab itself has sagged enough that the latch no longer lines up by an eighth of an inch. On Delta French doors especially, the active door settles and the flush bolt stops engaging the head jamb.
- Drafts around a closed, locked window. Weatherstripping has compressed or the sash isn’t seating squarely. If you can slide a dollar bill through the gap without tearing it, the seal is gone and you’re paying to condition the front yard.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A single Delta window replacement in San Antonio runs $450 – $1,500 installed depending on which line it is, glass options, and whether we’re adding Low-E coating, which we recommend on any west-facing opening. A full replacement job of 10 to 12 windows lands between $4,500 and $15,000. Sliding patio door replacements run $1,800 – $4,500, and French door replacements start around $2,500. For part-level repairs like a balance replacement, new rollers, or a failed IGU, you’re usually looking at $125 – $600 per opening.
What drives the range: the Delta generation (older 3000-series units need more work to shim and square), whether the rough opening has rot or settling, and glass upgrades. Every quote from us is a written price before work starts, with parts and labor broken out. If we find rot or a twisted frame once the unit is out, you know exactly what the change costs, in writing, before we do it. Our work carries a 365-day Done Right Promise from completion: if the window sticks, leaks, or the new part fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no cost.
DIY or Call Us?
You can clean your Delta window tracks, check for loose screws on the hinge arms, and re-attach a hand crank with a Phillips head. That’s worth doing twice a year in San Antonio because dust and oak pollen grind away at pivot points fast. What you shouldn’t do is take apart a spiral balance without a tool, because the tension can snap the shoe and launch a steel pin into your palm. You also shouldn’t attempt an IGU replacement yourself: Delta glazing beads are tight, the glass is tempered in doors and low openings, and a poorly seated unit will fog again within a season.
If you’re not sure which failure you’re looking at, take a photo of the label and the damaged part and send it to us. We’ll tell you straight if it’s a $15 pivot bar or a full sash replacement before anyone gets in a truck. Call (254) 269-5071.
FAQs

Delta windows in the San Antonio market last 15 to 25 years with proper maintenance, though the weatherstripping, balances, and rollers typically need replacement at the 10-year mark, and any south-facing IGU will likely lose its seal by year 12 or 14 due to constant sun loading. That’s a part replacement, not a full window replacement. Call (254) 269-5071 and we’ll tell you which one you’re actually facing.
Yes, if the frame is square and the glass unit is intact, we can replace most Delta hardware, balances, weatherstripping, and rollers in place. If the IGU is fogged or the frame has rotted at the sill, replacement is the honest call. Estimates are free, so you’ll know the repair cost before committing either way.
A balance, roller, lock, or weatherstripping replacement on a Delta window takes 30 to 60 minutes per opening. A full window replacement takes about two hours per unit including trim and cleanup. We’ll give you a written time window when you schedule, and your technician arrives in uniform with a photo ID badge, introduced by name before the work starts.
We keep the most common Delta balance shoes, pivot bars, hinge arms, tandem rollers, and weatherstripping profiles stocked on our trucks for immediate installation during your appointment. Specialty parts and OEM orders for older Lines like the 3000-series are usually in hand within three to five business days, and we’ll give you the exact cost before we order anything.
If you’re in San Antonio or the surrounding area and need a Delta window or door matched, priced, and fixed right, call (254) 269-5071 to schedule your free estimate. Know who’s coming, know what it costs, know it’s covered – that’s the whole job before the job starts.
