Atlas Roofing: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
Atlas roofing repair in San Antonio typically runs $400 – $1,800 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing a few shingles, sealing flashing, or rebuilding a section of decking. Most Atlas repairs are done in a single visit, and we stock common Atlas-compatible materials on our trucks so you’re not waiting on a supplier. Homeowners usually find us the same way: a brown stain spreads across the ceiling after a spring storm, or a shingle shows up in the yard after a windy week, or the attic starts smelling like wet plywood. By the time you notice it inside the house, the roof has been failing quietly for a while.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas makes several shingle lines, and the part you need depends on which one sits on your roof. The big three we see across San Antonio are Pinnacle Pristine (their heavy laminated architectural shingle), StormMaster Shake (a dimensional shingle often used in newer subdivisions), and GlassMaster (a three-tab shingle still common on older homes). Each line uses different widths and nail patterns, so a Pinnacle shingle will not sit correctly on a GlassMaster course, and vice versa. The surest way to identify what you have is to check the back of a loose shingle for the Atlas stamp, or look at your original roofing paperwork if it survived. If you don’t have either, measure the exposed tab width: Pinnacle and StormMaster run wider than the older three-tab profiles.
On the parts question, we’re direct with San Antonio homeowners: for Atlas shingles, OEM stock is the sensible default because color matching across manufacturing lots is tight, and Atlas color codes are specific enough that aftermarket shingles often show a shade difference that bothers people on a sunny afternoon. For underlayment, flashing, and ridge caps, quality aftermarket equivalents from GAF or CertainTeed work fine and we’ll tell you when that’s the better use of your money. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Atlas, so our only incentive is putting on the part that holds up longest in Texas weather.

Signs Your Atlas Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutters. Atlas shingles shed granules as the asphalt ages, and San Antonio’s summer heat accelerates it. If you’re cleaning gutters and seeing a heavy accumulation of dark grit, your shingles are past the middle of their life and losing UV protection fast.
- Cupping or curling shingle edges. This is the classic sign that heat and humidity have begun drying out the shingle mat. Once the corners lift, wind gets underneath and starts peeling courses off during the next storm front that rolls through from Fredericksburg.
- Missing shingles after wind events. North San Antonio neighborhoods near Stone Oak and Timberwood Park see this more often because the wind comes over the hill country with nothing slowing it down. A missing shingle exposes the nail strip of the course below it, and water finds that seam in the next rain.
- Water stains on ceilings or exterior walls. By the time a stain shows up on drywall, moisture has already passed through the decking and soaked the insulation above it. The leak that causes ceiling stains is usually not directly above the stain itself, water travels along the decking before it finds a seam to drip through.
- Attic smells like wet wood or mildew. If you catch that odor on a dry day, don’t wait for rain to confirm it. The moisture already in the attic from a previous storm is enough to keep the plywood damp for weeks, and that dampness compromises the decking the shingles nail into.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Atlas roof repair in San Antonio, plan on $400 – $1,800 for most jobs. Small repairs like replacing four or five torn shingles, resealing a pipe boot, or fixing a single section of flashing sit at the lower end. The higher end covers repairs where we’re cutting out and replacing water-damaged decking, rebuilding a valley, or reflashing a chimney and installing new counterflashing. What moves the price is not usually the shingles, it’s how much damage hides underneath them once we pull the old material off.
Every repair quote we write includes the parts, labor, haul-away of old material, and a written line-item breakdown before any work starts. You’ll know what the shingles cost, what the labor costs, and what the fastener and underlayment cost. No verbal estimate that grows at the end. The work itself falls under our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a repair we made fails within a year, we fix it at no charge. For the parts themselves, Atlas shingles carry manufacturer warranty coverage that we help you document properly so a future claim actually processes.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle two things on an Atlas roof: cleaning gutters so water moves off the roof edge, and taking a photo from the ground or a safe ladder position to show us what you’re seeing. Walking the roof surface is where homeowners get hurt. Atlas shingles, like most asphalt shingles, get slick with morning dew or after rain, and a 6/12 pitch over a one-story San Antonio ranch is still a dangerous fall. Finding the leak source also takes experience; most of the time the shingle that looks bad is not the one letting water in. The flashing, the valley, the pipe collar, those are the usual suspects, and diagnosing them wrong means you throw money at shingles while the real leak keeps dripping.
If you can see obvious damage from the ground, call us at (254) 269-5071. We’ll come look, tell you what actually needs fixing, and put a written price in your hand before anything gets torn off.
FAQs

Atlas Pinnacle and StormMaster shingles typically last 20 to 25 years in San Antonio’s climate, though the heat and hail we get can cut that short on certain slopes and exposures. If your home faces west with no tree cover, expect the shingles to age faster than the manufacturer’s optimistic number.
Individual shingles can be repaired as long as the decking underneath is solid and the surrounding shingles are still flexible enough to lift without cracking. If the decking shows rot or the shingles around the damaged area have lost most of their granules, a wider replacement makes more sense than a patch that fails in six months. Call us at (254) 269-5071 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.
Most repairs take half a day, including tear-off of damaged material, decking inspection, new underlayment, shingle installation, and cleanup. Larger jobs where we’re rebuilding valleys or replacing multiple sheets of decking can run a full day. We’ll give you the time window in writing when you get your estimate.
We keep common Atlas-compatible materials stocked, including shingles in the most popular San Antonio colors, underlayment, flashing, and sealants. If your roof uses a specialty color or a discontinued Atlas line, we’ll locate it through our supplier network and order it before we schedule the work, so the repair happens in one visit rather than two.
